CASE STUDY / FLUTTER

Shared devotional reading with synchronized progress and live audio.

A group devotional-reading experience where participants join a shared session, follow the same passage and communicate over live audio.

01 · PROJECT CONTEXT

The product challenge

Participants need to see the same reading position while a session is in progress. If one person changes page or reading speed, the shared experience depends on session events staying synchronized.

MY CONTRIBUTION

Built the Flutter group-reading and live-session experience; backend services were provided externally.

02 · IMPLEMENTATION

Implementation & engineering decisions

  1. 01Implemented group creation/joining and shared session entry flows.
  2. 02Synchronized reading position and session state through WebSocket events.
  3. 03Integrated Agora audio for live group communication.
  4. 04Added notifications, social authentication and content-sharing flows.
ENGINEERING NOTES

Where the implementation needed care

Architecture

The Flutter client combines reading UI with real-time session events and Agora audio; backend services were supplied externally rather than represented as solely user-built.

Key challenge

Keep reading state consistent across participants while audio and group membership change independently.

Delivered

Flutter group-reading UI, session synchronization, Agora integration and group entry/notification flows.

03 · PRODUCT CAPABILITIES

Key features & flows

The implementation connects group ids and joining requests with shared reading sessions, supported by synchronized page/progress updates and the integrations listed here.

  • Group IDs and joining requests
  • Shared reading sessions
  • Synchronized page/progress updates
  • Shared reading-speed/session state
  • Live group audio
  • Notifications and content sharing
GROUPSAUDIOSYNC

ARCHITECTURE & INTEGRATION

Group reading sessions stay in sync across participants.

The Flutter app coordinates group IDs, join flows and shared reading state. Agora provides audio sessions, WebSockets carry real-time updates, and notifications plus social authentication support joining and returning to a group. The backend was managed externally; this case study focuses on the mobile implementation and integrations.
